Gabriel-Philip Murjani is a New York City-born artist with a BS in Media, Culture, and Communication from New York University, focusing on visual media praxis in design, and illustration.
Pop culture, fashion, character design, and the transition from lowbrow comics and animation into higher experimentation, are significant influences in Gabriel's work, with an emphasis on a return to childlike values and enthusiasm once lost.
Raised in with a mixed South-Southeast Asian heritage, he gravitates towards the fundamental cultural conflicts and compromise of values in his work, through subject, convention, style, and the interplay of these elements.
Gabriel is also a lead designer of NYC-based collective RAN, a group of artists and designers who create unique designs for shirts and an overall creative studio for artists and photographers.
