The Kenmare Delancey is a typeface created by Gabriel Murjani in 2022. The typeface consists of found objects on Kenmare Street and Delancey Street and immediate intersections in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. The selected objects were found on the street, at neighboring parks, and inside neighboring buildings such as storefronts, galleries, and residences.
The inconsistent and chaotic assemblage of urban found objects reflects the unique grittiness of a Lower East Side lifestyle, with some of the objects found exclusively in the Lower East Side, such as the letter B, which was taken from iconic eyeglasses merchants Moscot's storefront. Special thanks to Jeanne Verdoux for her guidance and advice on this project.
