FOR SMARTPHONE CINEMA: CAPTURING YOUR PARIS STORY (CINE-UT 9566)
SENTIR is a 10-minute short film created for a New York University cinema studies class during a semester abroad in Paris, France. Shot entirely on an iPhone 12 and edited in Adobe Premiere Pro, it came together through two intense weeks of filming and editing.
The story follows a man confronting an incurable disease that will rob him of taste, smell, and sight, exploring his coping mechanisms in the face of inevitable loss.
Inspired by the revolutionary spirit of Nouvelle Vague cinema—works by Agnès Varda, Jean-Pierre Melville, and Carl Theodor Dreyer—SENTIR attempts to channel their innovation.
The poster design reflects the bold experimentation of 1960s Nouvelle Vague posters, fused with the clean precision of Swiss Style, inspired by Dutch designer Wim Crouwel. Every detail, from color to typography, was crafted to honor the film’s inspirations.
